Additionally, a member of the unit attended an Ethics training course as part of continuing education. Criminal Investigations Comments: The Criminal Investigations Division effected the arrest of a female subject involved in a vandalism case at the Bal Harbour Shops. The subject was upset because she damaged her shoe on the mall escalator and the mall would not compensate her loss. The subject chose to retaliate and poured paint on a mall escalator. The paint caused over $30,000.00 worth of damage. Detectives identified the subject and charged her with felony criminal mischief. Noteworthy Incidents / Arrests Date Incident Type Location 12/15/2018 Assist other Agency Harbour House COMMENTS: The Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) requested assistance from Bal Harbour officers to locate a resident that was involved in a hit and run in Broward County. Bal Harbour officers responded to the address provided by BSO, however, the person of interest no longer resided at the Harbour House. Date Incident Type Location 12/17/2018 Fire 218 Park Drive COMMENTS: Bal Harbour officers were summoned to a 218 Park Drive regarding a residential fire. Miami -Dade Fire responded and extinguished the fire. The home was unoccupied and no injuries or significant structure damage was reported. Miami -Dade Fire Rescue conducted a preliminary investigation and determined there were no indications of foul play. Date Incident Type Location 12/18/2018 Training 84 Bal Bay Drive COMMENTS: As part of the police department's mission to enhance our training efforts, The Bal Harbour Police Department continued our active shooter and building search training exercises. The training provided our officers with recent entry and tactical responses to critical incidents and building searches. All members of the uniform patrol division successfully completed the training course. 3 BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT Raleigh Flowers, Jr. Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report Date Incident Type Location 12/20/2019 Stolen Vehicle Recovery 9600 blk Beach COMMENTS: While patrolling the beach path, Bal Harbour officers discovered an abandon truck near the 96 Street beach entrance, a routine history check revealed the truck was reported stolen from the City of Coral Springs. The truck was towed and Coral Springs and Bal Harbour detectives are conducting a follow-up investigation. Date Incident Type Location 12/20/2019 Vehicle Burglaries Residential Gated District COMMENTS: Bal Harbour officers were summoned to 70 Park Drive, 114 Park Drive, and 228 Park Drive regarding vehicle burglaries to three unlocked vehicles at the aforementioned residents. Aventura Police Crime Scene Unit responded and processed the vehicles for latent prints. During the course of the investigation, Bal Harbour and Miami Gardens Detectives located a juvenile male that was in possession of personal items taken from the vehicles. Detectives interviewed the male and subsequently charged him with three (3) counts of Burglary to a Vehicle. Completed by: Raleigh Flowers, Jr., Chief of Police Date: December 20, 2018 4
