HomeMy Public PortalAbout023-1991 - STRICKEN - ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO 73-1083 AIJ*]IG1f`►LL`I�l��>7i AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 73-1983, AS AMENDED WHEREAS, the City of Richmond has a self -insured health insurance plan administered by a health insurance carrier, which is offered to the City employees; and, WHEREAS, the City of Richmond pays seventy percent (70%) and the employees pay thirty percent (30%) of the premium; and, WHEREAS, certain amendments to the plan are necessary to insure that the plan will be financially sound. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana: Section 1 That Section 3 of Ordinance No. 73-1983, as amended, be deleted. Section 2 That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 73-1983, as amended, be amended as follows: That a retiree electing to continue the health insurance without lapse in coverage, may pay into this fund one hundred percent (100%) of the premium plus a thirty percent (30%) surcharge. A retiree from the City employment must have a minimum of fifteen (15) years service, and be a minimum age of fifty (50) years, except the City's police and fire department employees, who must have served twenty (20) years, regardless of age, or become disabled while on duty, both being certified by the pension board. Section 3 That Section 5 of Ordinance No. 73-1983, as amended, be amended as follows: That any lapse in coverage by a retiree voids the retiree's opportunity to participate in the City insurance plan, except those cases in which a retiree was covered under other insurance after retirement, and the other insurance becomes unavailable. Evidence of good health will be required for the Retiree and any Dependents he wishes to cover. Also, the Retiree and his Dependents shall not be covered for conditions which existed, with or without their knowledge, prior to the effective date of Retiree coverage, until the completion of 270 days of continuous Retiree coverage. No additional dependants may be added for coverage without furnishing evidence of insurability for coverage under Section 4 above, except those unborn children who were conceived on or before the date of death or retirement of the City employee.
