A special meeting of Town Council was held today at 6 :30 P.M. in the Council Room in the Town Hall and was attended by Mayor Brown, who presided, and Councilmen Meddin, Peters, Lovell, Waters, Powers, Hosti and Town Attorney Solms, Jr. The meeting was called for the purpose of receiving the returns of the managers and also adopting a Resolution acknowledging same. The results of the election held today for Mayor and Councilmen were read to Council as follows: TO THE MAYOR AND COUNCILMEN OF SAVANNAH BEACH, TYBEE ISLAND, CHATHAM COUNTY, GEORGIA. We, the undersigned, who were duly appointed as Managers of the Election for Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of .Savannah Beach, by Resolution adopted by Council at a meeting held on the 9th day of March, 1960, and who have conducted said election held on April 4, 1960, in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of Savannah Beach, Tybee Wand, and the laws of the State of Georgia applicable thereto, do hereby certify that said election was held on April 4, 1960, in accordance with the law, and that the following candidates received the number of votes set forth oppo- site their names for said office, in said election: FOR MAYOR James 1. Brown 431 Votes W. R. Goodson Votes FOR COUNCILMEN Who are residents and domiciled in Chatham County, outside the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island. William S. Lovell 446 Votes Alexander Meddin 438 Votes John A. Peters 456 Votes FOR COUNCILMEN Who are bona fide residents and domiciled within the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island. BROWN has received the highest number of votes cast for any candidate for Mayor of said Town, that WILLIAM S. IOVELL, ALEXANDER MEDDIN and JOHN A. PETERS have received the highest number of votes cast for any - candidate for the office of Councilmen of said Town who are bona fide residents and domiciled in Chatham County, outside of the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and on property at Savannah Beach, Tybee Island; and that BENNO P. HOSTI, JAMES H. P0tERS and ROBERT L. WATERS have received the highest number of votes cast for any candidates for the office of Councilmen of said Town who are bona fide residents and domiciled within the corporate limits of the Town of Savgnah Beach, Tybee Island. A RESOLUTION WHEREKS, the managers duly named by Resolution passed by the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, in Council assembled, on the 9th day of March, 1960, to conduct the election just concluded and held on this 4th day of April 1960, at Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and six (6) Councilmen, three (3) of whom shall be bona fide residents and domi- ciled within the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and three (3) of whom shall be bona fide residents and domiciled in Chatham County, outside the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and shall own pro- perty at Savannah Beach, 'Tybee Island, to hold office until the first Monday in July, 1962 or until their successors have been duly eleotd and qualified, have made the con- solidated returns and /or results to the Mayor and Councilmen calling said election, which consolidation was done in the presence of and together with the several managers; and, EREAS, it appears that JAMES A. BROWN received the highest number of votes. for Mayor of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island; and WHEREAS, BENNO P. HOSTI, JAMES H. POWERS and ROBERT L. WATERS received the highest number of votes for Councilmen .of the Town of Savannah Beach, .Tybee Island, who are bona fide residents and domiciled within the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and WILLIAM S. LOVELL, ALEXANDER MEDDIN and JOHN A. PETERS received the highest number of votes for Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, who are bona fide residents and domiciled in Chatham Uounty, outside the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and who own proRerty at Savannah Beach, Tybee Island. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen of the Towaa of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in Council assembled, and it is hereby resolved by the Authority of thesame, that the result of said election be, and the same is, hereby declared as electing: JAMES A.
