Notification of a violation may be by certified mail, return receipt requested, or may be served upon the owner by an appointed enforcement officer. One letter within a calendar year shall be deemed by Council to be sufficient notice for each and every lot, parcel, and lands owned by the offender within the corporate limits of the City in case of party's failure to comply with the terms of this section. Mayor ATTEST: Citv CIP INTER -OFFICE MEMO CITY OF RICHMOND DATE: August 31, 1990 TO: Mary Merchanthouse, City Clerk Jane Brookbank, Common Council President FROM: Bruce Metzger, City Attomeyab RE: Weed Control Ordinance COPY TO: File, Dana Leas, Mayor Waltermann Dana Leas asked me to prepare some amendments to our weed ordinance. The first amendment defines "rank vegetation." It states that any vegetation that is twelve (12) inches in height or taller shall be subject to a notice and cut order from the Weed Enforcement Officer. The second amendment provides a fine in the event that the City is required to cut weeds twice or more within a six (6) week period. The current ordinance provides that the fine does not become payable until the City is required to cut within a four (4) week period. Dana feels that the City is unable, because of logistical reasons, to cut lots twice within a four (4) week period, and hence the current ordinance is difficult to enforce. On behalf of the Planning Department, I am requesting that this ordinance he placed on the Council agenda and be adopted by Council. jbs DISPOSITION OF ORDINANCE NO. 6-3 .199 0 RESOLUTION NO. -199 by Common Council Ordinance No. (e3 Resolution No. — Elstra Lundy Hankinson McBride Parker Hutton Morris Paust Brookbank Date -?Y-Z--.FO Susp. rules Ist read — - Title only — .. ...................
