The purpose of this policy is to prohibit dishonest acts and/or fraudulent activity and to advise employees and officials of their responsibility to report suspected fraudulent activity. Section 2.0: Scope This policy applies to all departments and officials of the City. Section 3.0: Definitions Fraud - a willful or deliberate act or failure to act with the intention of obtaining an unauthorized benefit Section 4.0: Policy Detail All levels of management are responsible for the prevention and detection of fraud, misappropriations, and other inappropriate conduct. Any fraud that is detected or suspected must be reported immediately in accordance with ADM-126.1 Complaints & Investigations Policy. It is the city's intent to fully investigate any suspected acts of fraud. An objective and impartial investigation will be conducted regardless of the position, title, length of service or relationship with the city of any party who might be or becomes involved in or becomes or is the subject of such an investigation. Any individual found to have engaged in fraudulent activity is subject to disciplinary action, which may include dismissal, as well as prosecution by appropriate law enforcement authorities and possible civil action.
