Mayor Blum called the meeting to order at 7 :30 p .m .

Nanette Fish , led those present in a pledge of allegiance .
City Counc il and Chamber Board membe rs ea c h gave a brief self introduction .
4. PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT LISTED ON THE AGENDA
Jerry Jambazian , Temple City business owner, requested public comments be
allowed at the beg i nni ng , t he end , and during each d iscussion item of the special
meeting. He also requested adjourning the meeting in memory of M ike Miller,
former Kiwanis member.
Mayor Blum also requested that the meeting be adjourned in memory of Mrs . Diana
Yu , Councilmember Yu 's mom .

A. ROLES AND RELATIONSHIP (5 m inutes)
Discuss the roles and relations between both organizations and standard
pract ices of Chamber of Comme rc e .

Counci lmember Sternquist shared with City Council and Chamber Board
Members a list of roles and responsib i lities from different cities ' Chamber of
Commerce .
Chamber Board Member Walden left the meeting at 8 :11 p .m. and returned at
8 :12p.m .
B . OVERVIEW OF CHAMBER'S FIVE YEAR BUSINESS PLAN AND CITY'S
UPCOMING STRATEGIC PLAN (20 minutes)
Quick overview of the Chamber's Five Year Business Plan and City's upcoming
Strategic Plan and discuss possible goal alignment.
Chamber Cha i r Chavez gave an overview of the activities and the services
C hamber has provided to the community over the past couple of years .
Chamber Board Member Walden left the meetinQ at 8 :15 p .m .
Peter Cho i, Chamber's President/CEO , confirmed that the Chamber's F ive Year
Business Plan is still valid and Chamber Chair Chavez stated that the Board will
implement the Five Year Business Plan to the best of its ability.
C . GOALS , OBJECTIVES , AND CHALLENGES (20 m inutes)
Discuss the goals , objectives, and challenges of the Chamber and C ity, and how
both organizations can work to accomplish collective goals .
Chamber Board Member Lynn requested City Counci l to narrow down the goals
City want the Chamber to focus on .
City Council referred to the goals listed in the Consultant Services Agreement
t he C ity recently approv ed on August 5 , 2014 .
D. CITY'S SUPPORT OF THE CHAMBER (5 minutes)
In o vervi ew of City's current financial support to the Chamber.
Mayor Blum shared that the Chamber rents the City property and building at
9050 Las Tunas Drive for $1 /month and the City Council recently approved a
Consultant Services Agreement on August 5, 2014 , with the Chamber for
economic development services in a n amount not to e xceed $70 ,000 .
E. CONTRACT AGREEMENT AND EXPECTATIONS (30 minutes)
C ity and Chamber to agree on terms of programs for the following year.

C ity Council reviewed the Chamber's Consultant Services Agreement recently
approved (i.e ., August 5 , 2014) and received comments from City Council and
Chamber Board Membe rs .
City Council and Chamber Board Members recommended the following changes
to Exhib it A of th e agreement: delete "Business Expo" from Task 2 ; deleted
Task 3 . Task 1 ,4 , 5, 6 and 7 rema in unchanged .
Mr . Choi clarified that t he Chamber will provide quarte rly updates to City Council
in October, January, April and July at the ir second regular meeting of the month .
Coun ci lmember V izcarra left the meeting at 8 :39 p .m . and returned at 8 :44 p.m.
Chamber Board Member Lynn left the meeting at 9 :28 p.m .
City Council directed staff to bring an amendment to the Chamber's Consultant
Services Agreement , with the recommended changes , for City Council
c onsideration during the ir second regular meeting in October.
6. ADJOURNMENT
The Special Meeting was adjourned at 9 :29 p .m . in memory of Mike Miller and Diana
Yu.
