A. Suc cessful Juven il e Intervention with VIDA
Sergeant Miranda presented the report regarding the successful Juvenile
Inte rv ention with VIDA.
Councilmember Sternquist requested i nformation regarding the process to get
involved.
Counc ilmember Yu asked about the program and how Temple City High
School was chosen to participate .

B . Se x ual Predator Internet Sting
Sergeant Mi randa provided an update regarding the sexual predator internet
sting conducted at Live Oa k Park .

C . Suspected Na rcotics Locations
Sergeant Miranda provided an update regarding suspected narcotics
locations.
Interim City Manager Penman inquired about the need for a film permit for the
filming that took place at one of th e suspected locations .

D . Temple City Chamber of Commerce Deputy of the Year
Sergeant Miranda announced that Temple City 's Chamber of Commerce has
selected Deputy Kirk Cardella as the Deputy of the year.

5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. Persimmon Property Deferred Maintenance Compliance
Public Safety and Services Manager Sahagun provided an update regarding
the property and its current status .
Mayor Blum requested staff to follow up on the use of easy up tents on
Temple City Boulevard and Garibaldi .

B . Serv ices Provided To Temple City Unifie d Schoo l-D istrict (Every 15 M inute
Program)
Public Safety and Services Manager Sahagun and Sergeant Miranda
provided an update regarding the services provided to Temple City Unified
School District.
Action : Received report .
C . City Policy Requiring a Special Event Permit for Specific Events
Public Safety and Services Manager Sahagun provided an overview
regarding the proposed Special Event Perm it.
Interim City Manager Penman requested to include the requirement of a
Special Event Perm it when using the public r ight of way .

D . Increased Graffiti on Rosemead Blvd .
Publ ic Safety and Services Manager Sahagun and Sergeant Miranda
provided a report regarding the increased graffiti on Rosemead Blvd .
Councilmember Yu reques ted ant i-graffiti to be added on the monuments .
Public Safety and Services Manager Sahagun reported that protective film
will be placed on the bus shelters .

6 . COMMUNICATIONS
A . QUALITY OF LIFE
Sergeant Miranda provided an update regarding sex offender registrants ,
number of parolees , and number of probationers in the City .
Mayor Blum requested an update regarding the amount of illegal fireworks
detonated during the restricted time period . Mayor Blum also re quested staff
to provide a summary of how the organ izations who participated during the
sale of safe and sane fireworks during the 41h of July season .
B. OPERATIONS (PROBATIO N/PAROLE)
Sergeant Miranda provided an update regarding activities and operations that
occurred in the City.
C . TRAFFIC ISSUES (SCHOOLS/OTHER)
Sergeant Miranda provided an update regarding traffic issues in the City .
D . CRIME AND TRAFFIC TRENDS
Sergeant Miranda prov ided an update regarding crime and traffic trends in the
City .
E . PUBLIC OUTREACH
Sergeant Miranda provided an update regarding the success the Community
Academy provided by Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Mayor Blum inquired about the amount of people who participated in the
Community Academy .
F. NOTABLE ARREST(S)
Sergeant Miranda provided an update rega rd i ng notable arrests made in the
City .
Mayor Pro Tern Chavez stepped out of the meeting at 7 :50a .m ., and returned
at 7 :52a.m .
G. CRIME AND TRAFFIC SATISTICS
Sergeant Miranda provided an update regarding crime and traffic statistics .
Public Safety and Services Manager Sahagun asked what caused a higher
number of traffic accidents during this time of the year.
Councilmember Vizcarra expressed his concern about witnessing a Dial-a-
Ride driver using her cel lphone while operating the vehicle in the City .
H. UPCOMING EVENTS FOR AUGUST 2014
Public Safety Officer Ariizumi reminded the City Council that the next
neighborhood watch meeting has been rescheduled for Wednesday , August
13 , 2014 .
Interim City Manager Penman requested i nformation regarding the avai lability
of a dedicated radar motorcycle or vehicle .
Councilmember Sternquist invited the new Captain to a City Council meeting to
allow the City Council to introduce him to the residents of Temple City.
Interim City Manager Penman responded that he would follow up regarding her
request.
