Forbes , AICP , Community Development Director.~ By : Jennifer Venters , Planning Secretary SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION ACTIONS-MEETING OF JULY 22 , 2014 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file actions of the Planning Commission from their meeting of July 22 , 2014 . BACKGROUND: On July 22 , 2014 , the Plann i ng Commission held their regular meeting. ANALYSIS: The following is a summary of actions taken at the July 22 , 2014 , Planning Commission meeting : 1. ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioner -Curran , O 'Leary, Vice-Chairman Leung , Chairman Cordes Absent: Commissioner-None Excused: Commissioner-Horton 2 . REORGANIZATION OF PLANNING COMMISSION A. The Planning Commission took the following actions : Vice-Chairman Leung was elected as Chairman. Commissioner Curran was elected as Vice-Chairman . City Council August 19, 2014 Pag e 2 of 3 3 . CONSENT CALENDAR The Plann ing Commission approved the minutes f rom their reg ular meeting of Jun e 10 , 201 4 and June 24 , 2014 . 4 . UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. Th e Planning Commiss ion approved a Conditional Us e Perm it to divide a commercial building into four tena nt spaces. The four commercial tenant units are intended to be occupied by office and/or retail uses . T he property is designated East Co mm e rci al (EC) in the Downtown Specific Plan . 5 . NEW BUSINESS A. The Planning Commission approved a Conditional Use Perm it to allow the installation of a 59 foot tall wireless te lecommu nications tower located at 9677 Longden Avenue . Th e wireless te le communica ti ons tower will be camouflaged as a euca lyptus tre e and serves as an alternative loca tion to a previously deni ed req uest for a wireless facil ity at Temple City High School. The property is zo ned Light Multipl e Family Residential (R-2 ) and is designated In stitutional by th e City 's General Plan . B. The Planning Commissio n approved a Conditional Use Permit to divide a 12 ,440 square foot commercial bu i lding into five separate units ; and a Conditio nal Use Permit to establish an afte r school tutoring business for up to 60 students located at 5576 -5592 Rosem ead Boulevard (forme rly add ressed as 5570-B Rosemead Boulevard ). The property is zo ned Ge ne ral Commercial (C -2). C. The Planning Commiss io n approved a Co nd it ional Use Permit to allow a new private eleme ntary sc hoo l at First United Methodist Ch urch , located at 5857 Golden West Ave nu e . The schoo l (Oasis Tri l ingua l Commu nity Sc ho o l) will teach stud e nts kindergarten through th ird grade with a maxim um of 30 students . Eventually fourth through sixth grade w il l be added , and the total amount of students will expand up to 50 children. The property is zoned Multi -Family Residential (R-3) and designated In stitutional by the Ci ty's General Pl an . D. COMMUNICATIONS -None E. MA TIERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS -None F.
