AUTHORIZING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A MUNICIPAL EMS SERVICE
WHEREAS, the Governing Body has determined that it is in the public interest
to establish a municipal EMS/ambulance service; and
WHEREAS, it is the intent that the municipal service be the primary provider of
EMS/ambulance services during the daytime hours of 6~00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, the Carteret First Aid Squad shall remain the primary provider of
EMS/ambulance services during the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., and shall also serve
as a back-up ambulance service during the daytime hours when the municipal service is
operating.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey as follows:
1. That upon final adoption and implementation of all of the actions
needed to establish a municipal EMS/ambulance service and to have said
service f~lly operational, the municipal EMS/ambulance service shall be
the primary provider of said services during the daytime hours of 600 a.m.
to 6:00 p.m.
2. That the appropriate Borough officials take the necessary actions
to establish a municipal EMS/ambulance service.

and certified as a true copy of the
original on July 19, 2002.
