A special meeting of Town Council was held today in the Council Room in theTown Hall at 7 P.M. and was attanded by Mayor Brown, Who presided and Councilmen Peters, Hosti, Powers, Waters, Lovell, Meddin, Tpwn Attorney Soups. The purpose of the meeting was to receive the report of the Managers of the Election held today certifying results of the election. The following certificate of the election was read by the Clerk as follows: TO THE MAYOR AND COUNCILMEN OF SAVANNAH BEACH, TYBEE ISLAND, CHATHAM COUNTY, GEORGIA. We, the undersigned, who were duly appointed as Managers of the election for Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, by Resolution adopted by Council at a meeting held on the 14th day of March, 1962, and who have conducted said election held on April 2, 1962, in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and the laws of the State of Georgia applic- able thereto, do hereby certify that said election was held on April 2, 1962 in accordance with the law, and that the following candidates received the number of votes set forth opposite their names for said office, in said election: FOR MAYOR James A. Brown ,474 Votes Robert H. Thompson Votes FOR COUNCILMEN who are residents and domiciled in Chatham County, outside the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island. William C. Fleetwood 4 Votes William S. Lovell 434 Votes Alexander Meddin 21 Votes Joseph A. O'Leary 391 Votes John A. Peters 447 Votes Walter H. Simmons 349 Votes FOR COUNCILMEN who are bona fide residents and domiciled within the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island. Hubert K. Ellzey, Sr. Benno P. Hosti Jack T. BROWN has received the highest number of votes cast for any candidate for Mayor of said Town; that WILLIAM C. FLEETWOOD, IIIWILLIAM S. LOVE L, JOHN A. PETERS, have received the highest number of votes cast for any candidate for the office of councilmen of said Town who are bona fide residents and domiciled in Chatham County, outside of the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and own property at Savannah Beach, Tybee Island; and that BENNO P. HOSTI. JAMES H. POWERS, ROBERT L. WATERS have received the highest number of votes cast for any candidates for the office of Councilmen of said Town who are bona fide residents and domiciled within the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island. It was moved, seconded and passed that the following Resolution be adopted. A RESOLUTION Whereas, the managers duly named by Resolution passed by the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, in Council assembled on the 14th day of March, 1962, to conduct the election just concluded and held on this 2nd day of April, 1962 at Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and six (6) Councilmen, three (3) of whom shall be bona fide residents and domiciled within the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and three (3) of whom shall be bona fide residents and domiciled in Chatham County, outO side the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and shall own property at Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, to hold office until the first Monday in July 1964 or until their successory have been duly elected and qualified, have made the consolidated returns and /or results to the Mayor and Councilmen calling said election, which consolidation was done in the presence of and together with the several managers; and, 96 WHEREAS, it appears that JAMES A. BROWN received the highest number of votes for Mayor of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island; and WHEREAS, BENNO P. HOSTI — JAMES H. POWERS — ROBERT L. WATERS received the highest number of votes for Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, who are bona fide residents and domiciled within the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Tsland, and WILLIAM S. LOVELL — WILLIAM C. FLEETWOOD — JOHN A. PETERS received the highest number of-votes for Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, who are bona fide residents and domiciled in Chatham County, outside the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and who own property at Savannah Beach, Tybee Island. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in Council assembled, and it is hereby resolved by the authority of the same, that the result of said election be, and the same is, hereby declared as electing: JAMES A. BROWN WILLIAM C. FLEETWOOD WILLIAM S. LOVELL JOHN A. PETERS BENNO P. HOSTI JAMES H. POWERS ROBERT L. WATERS as Mayor as Councilman as Councilman as Councilman as Councilman as Councilman as Councilman for the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, to hold office until the first Monday, in July 1964, or until their successors are elected and duly qualified; said results appearing from the returns of said election managers, which said returns are hereby adopted and made a part hereof. 1 1
