AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE 2002 ROAD IMPROVEMENT
PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret previously authorized the
solicitation of bid proposals for the 2002 Road Improvement Program; and
WHEREAS, the Borough received six (6) bid proposals for said contract;
and
WHEREAS, the Borough Engineer has recommended to the Mayor and
Council that, given the anticipated level of available local funding for the project,
that a contract be awarded deducting Deduct Alternates B-A1 (Fire House
Driveway) and B-A2 (Liebig Lane) f~om the bid award; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the recommendation of the Borough
Engineer, the 3 lowest bid proposals received for said contract are as follows:
1. Little Rascals Concrete Co., Inc. $765,058.00
South River, NJ
2. Star &the Sea Concrete Corp. $771,831.05
Old Bridge, NJ
3. Marvec Construction Corp. $875,263.50
Verona, NJ ; and
WHEREAS, the Borough Attorney and Borough Engineer have reviewed
the above described bid proposals and have recommended the award of a contract
to Little Rascals as.the lowest responsible bidder for the selected scope of work in
the amount of $765,058.00.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of
the Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, as follows:
1. . That the bid of Little Rascals Concrete Co., South River,
New Jersey, for the 2002 Road Improvement Program Contract for
the bid options recommended by the Borough Engineer, and in
conformance with the contract bid specifications and contract
documents in all respects, is hereby approved subject to the review
of contract documents by the Borough Attorney.
· 2. That this award is subject to the Chief Financial Officer's
certification that funds are or will be available for said contract.

3. That subject to the review of contract documents by the
Borough Attorney and the Chief Financial Officer's certification of
available funds, the Mayor and Borough Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute the contract documents on behalf of the
Borough of Cartcret.
4. That a copy of this Resolution shall be fonvarded to the
Borough Attorney, the Borough Purchasing Agent, and T&M
Associates for distribution to Little Rascals Concrete Co.
