HomeMy Public PortalAbout042-1991 - Amending Ord. 71-1986 - Establishing fees for disposORDINANCE NO. 42-1991 AN ORDINANCE AMEDING ORDINANCE NO.71-1986 AUTHORIZING THE RICHMOND SANITARY BOARD TO ESTABLISH A FEE FOR DISPOSAL OF LIQUID WASTE FROM SEPTIC TANKS AND GREASE TRAPS AND BEING PART OF CHAPTER 53 OF THE RICHMOND CITY CODE. WHEREAS, the Board of Sanitary Commissioners of the Sanitary District of Richmond, Indiana (hereinafter called the 'Board") operates and maintains the Wastewater Treatmeant Plant; WHEREAS, the Board established certain rates and service charges for disposal of wastewater residuals at the Treatment Plant; and WHEREAS, said rates were established by Resolution No. 17-1986 ; and; WHEREAS, the Board must define wastewater residuals as wastewater having a solids content greater than 0.5%; and WHEREAS, the Board of Sanitary Commissioners has deemed it necessary to revise the method and rates in light of increased costs in operating the Richmond Wastewater Treatment Plant; and WHEREAS, the Board has conducted a public hearing on the method and rates for a disposal of refuse; and NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, that: Resolution No. 6-1991 (copy attached) of the Board of Directors of the Richmond Sanitary District, as adopted by the Board on August 13, 1991, is hereby approved by the Common Council. Furthermore, Chapter 53 (Sewer Rates and Charges) of the City Code is hereby amended as follows: SECTION 53.125.1 - Pursuant to Resolution Number 6-1991 of the Board of Directors of the Richmond Sanitary District, method and rates for service charges for disposal of wastwater residuals at the Treatment Plant of the Richmond Sanitary District shall be as follows: Waste from septic tanks _ $3.00 per 100 gallons ($0.36/100 lbs.) Waste from grease traps $6.00 per 100 gallons ($0.72/100 lbs.) Treatment plant residuals (industrian or municipal) - $4.50 per 100 gallons ($0.54/100 lbs.) This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect September 1, 1991. The revised rates shall be as follows: 1. For waste from septic tanks -- $3.00 per 100 gallons ($0.36/100 lbs.) 2. For waste from grease traps - $6.00 per 100 gallons .($0.72/100 lbs.) 3.
