HomeMy Public PortalAbout1996-18 COPS application, U.S. Department of Justice grantRESOLUTION NO. 96-18 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FOR A "COPS" GRANT; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice's Office of Community -Oriented Policing Services (COPS) has awarded the Village of Key Biscayne's Police Department a grant in the amount of $150,000.00; and WHEREAS, the COPS grant will fund the hiring of two additional full-time police officers for a three year period; and WHEREAS, the proposed Fiscal Year 1997 - 1999 budgets for the Police Department have sufficient funding available to cover the Village's matching portion of the grant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the Village Manager is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with the United States Department of Justice's Office of Community -Oriented Policing Services (COPS) for a $150,000.00 grant and execute any other necessary documents in connection with the grant.
