A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE,
FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE MANAGER TO
ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STATES
DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FOR A "COPS" GRANT;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice's Office of Community -Oriented
Policing Services (COPS) has awarded the Village of Key Biscayne's Police Department a grant in
the amount of $150,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the COPS grant will fund the hiring of two additional full-time police officers
for a three year period; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Fiscal Year 1997 - 1999 budgets for the Police Department have
sufficient funding available to cover the Village's matching portion of the grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF KEY
BISCAYNE, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the Village Manager is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with
the United States Department of Justice's Office of Community -Oriented Policing Services (COPS)
for a $150,000.00 grant and execute any other necessary documents in connection with the grant.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 11th day of June, 1996.
