AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
TEMPLE CITY AMENDING SECTION
9371 -1 OF THE TEMPLE CITY MUNI-
CIPL CODE RELATING TO PERMITTED
USES IN THE C -1 ZONE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES
ORDAIN:
SECTION 1. Section 9371_: of the Temple City
Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 9371.1. Uses Permitted.
A. The following retail uses may be
conducted provided the same involve the sale
of new products at retail and are conducted
entirely within an enclosed building;
1. Appliances, household (retail
sales and minor repairs).
2. Art Stores.
3. Automobile supply stores (retail
sales only; no installation or
mechanical repair).
4. Bakery and confectionary shops
(processing shall be permitted
only when incidental to retail
sales).
5. Banks, savings and loan associations
and other financial institutions.
6. Bicycle stores, unmotorized cycles
only.
7. Book or stationery stores.
8. Camera shops.
9. Candle sales, retail.
10. Carpet and rug sales, retail.
11. Clothing or millinery stores.
12. Coin and stamp dealers.
13. Department stores.
14. Dispensing opticians.
15. Drapery stores.
16. Drug stores and prescription
pharmacies.
17. Dry goods or notions stores.
18. Florist shops.
19. Food markets.
20. Formal wear, retail sale
and rental.
21. Furniture and home furnishings
stores.

22. Greeting cards, retail sales.
23. Hardware stores.
24. Health food stores.
25. Hearing aids, retail sales.
26. Hobby and gift shops.
27. Home Improvement centers,
retail sales.
28. Ice cream parlors.
29. Instant printing.
30. Interior decorating.
31. Jewelry stores.
32. Liquor stores, off -sale only.
33. Locksmith stores.
34. Luggage and leather goods
stores.
35. Music sales stores, studios
of music instruction if subsidiary,
although not necessarily adjacent,
to retail music sales stores within
the C -1 zone.
36. Paint stores.
37. Parking lots, commercial, provided
that a conditional use permit is
first obtained.
38. Party favors and supplies, retail
sales.
39. Pet shops.
40. Photograph studios.
41. Radio and T.V. stores (retail
sales and repairs).
42. Restaurants (subject to CUP
requirements, if any).
43. Shoe stores.
44. Shopping centers requiring a
CUP under any other provision
of this Code.
45. Sickroom supplies, retail sales.
46. Signs, show cards, and posters,
retail sales (including the on
premise painting or preparation
of such signs, provided that such
operations do not involve electrical
components nor comprise greater
than 50% of the gross floor area
of the business, or 500 square feet,
whichever is less).

47. Sporting goods stores.
48. Tobacco stors.`"
49. Toy stores.
50. Trading stamp redemption centers
and catalog stores.
51. Upholstery fabrics and supplies,
retail sales.
52. Other retail slaes uses as the
Planning Commission and City
Council may deem to be similar
and not more obnoxious or detri-
mental to the public health,
safety and welfare.
B. The following commercial office and
service uses provided that said use occupies not
more than 1,000 square feet of gross floor area
if located on the ground or main floor of the
building:
1. Barbers and beauticians.
2. Dry cleaners, retail.
3. Insurance agents and /or brokers.
4. Investment securities and
stock brokerage firms.
5. Shoe repair shops.
6. Tailor shops.
7. Travel bureaus.
8. Other commercial office or
service uses as the Planning
Commission and City Council
may deem to be similar and
not more obnoxious to the
public health, safety and
welfare.
C. The following uses are permitted
provided, however, that they shall not be located
on the ground or main floor of the building:
1. Any use permitted in the C -2
zone of the City as provided
in Section 9390 et seq. of
this Code.
D. Products may be made and services rendered
if entirely incidental to a permitted retail sale of new
products.
E. Sales of other than new products
or at other than retail shall be permitted when
conducted in a manner secondary and necessarily
incident to a new product retail trade. Services,
lessons or demonstrations conducted incident to a
permitted use shall be permitted.

SECTION 2. The City Clerk of the City of Temple
City shall certify to the passage and adoption of this
Ordinance and to its approval by the Mayor and shall cause
the same to be published in the Temple City Times, a newspaper
of general circulation, printed, published and circulated in the
City of Temple City.

being Ordinance No. 75 -418 was introduced at a regular meeting
of the City Council of the City of Temple City, held on the
16th day of September, 1975, and was duly passed, approved and
adopted by said Council, approved and signed by the Mayor and
attested by the City Clerk at a regular meeting of the said
City Council held on the 7th day of October, 1975, by the
following vote:
AYES: Councilmen- Dennis, Greenberg, Merritt, Tyrell., Gilbertson
NOES: Councilmen- None
