There being no further business the meeting adjourned subject to the call of the Mayor.

March 23, 1964.
A special meeting of Town Council was held today-at 5:30 P.M. in the Town Hall and
was attended.by Mayor Brown, who presided and Councilman Hosti, Fleetwood, Powers,
Lovell and Waters.
The meeting was called for the following purposes:
1. To appoint Managers for the election to be held on Monday, April 6, 1964
2. To designate a voting place for-the election
3. To accept the resignation of Councilman John A Peters
4. To appoint Dr. C. Louis Hohenstein to the unexpired term
of Councilman John A. Peters, who resigned
Councilman Lovell moved that the following managers be named for the election for
Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah Beach to be held on Monday, April 6, 1964.
W. John H. Daniels, Jr.
Imo. James M. Cargill, Jr.,
Mrs. Mildred Burke
Mrs. Ethel Smith
Councilman Waters seconded and the motion passed.
Councilman Powers moved that the voting place for the election to be held for Mayor
and Councilmen of Savannah Beach on Monday, April 6, 1964 be held in the auditorium
of the Town Hall. Councilman Hosti seconded and the motion passed.
The Mayor announced that Councilman John A. Peters, Sr.,had tendered his resignation
and requested that it be made effective at once. The Mayor stated that Councilman
Peters regretted that this step was necessary but that the pressure of business
necessitated him taking this action and that he would always remember his pleasant
relation while serving on the Board. Councilman Lovell moved that Councilman Peters
resignation be accepted with regret which was seconded by Councilman Waters and the
notion passed.
Mayor Brown placed the name of Dr. C. Louis Hohenstein before the Board and recommended
that he be appointed to fill the unexpired term of Councilman Peters. Councilman Lovell
moved that Dr. Hohenstein be appointed to fill the unexpired term of Councilman Peters
which was seconded by Councilman Powers and the motion passed.

I, DR. C. LOUIS HOHENSTEIN, do solemnly swear that -I will faith-
fully and honestly perform the duties of Councilman of the -Town of Savannah Beach,
Tybee Island, Georgia, to the best of my skill and ability, without favor or
affection, so help me God.
I, DR. C. LOUIS HOHENSTEIN, a citizen'of Chatha3u County, Georgia,
and being an employee of the Town of Savannah Beach, and the recipient of public
funds for serVices rendered as such employee, -do hereby solemnly swear and affirm
that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of
the State of Georgia, and that I am not a member of -the Communist Party and that
I have no sympathy for the doctrines"of commism and will not lend my aid, my
support, my advise, my counsel nor my influence to the Communist Party or to the
teachings of communism.

A special meeting was held today at 7 :30 P.M. in the Council Room in the Town Hall
and was attended by Mayor Brown, who presided, and Councilmen Fleetwood, Hosti,
Powers, Lovell, Waters, Town Attorney Solms and Dr. C. Louis Hohenstein.
The meeting was called for the following purposes:
1. Swearing in Dr. C. Louis Hohenstein as Councilman
2. To receive the report of the managers as to the result
of the election held for Mayor & Councilmen on April 6, 1946
Mayor Brown submitted the oath to Dr. C. Louis Hohenstein which was accepted by
him.
