SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Parks & Recreation Department administrative staff will require temporary office space during the construction of the new library building and the remodeling of the old library for
the approximate two-year time frame of construction. Department staff have been working with Treasure Valley Transit to accommodate this need during that time and have put together
the attached lease agreement for two office space and shared use with the transit center of the remaining common area which includes, restrooms, lobby, conference room, and break room
within the building.
Based on Treasure Valley Transits assessment of contracted building janitorial and maintenance requirements the agreement comes out to a balance in value of office space rent for building
services which will be performed by parks and recreation staff. These services are like in nature to those the department is already performing on adjacent city facilities such as City
Hall and include janitorial, minor building maintenance, snow removal, and landscape maintenance. In addition, we will share front desk services as outlined in the lease agreement.
Department staff estimate building utility costs and maintenance demand to be less than the current costs associated with the annex building and current office space. The value and location
of this temporary office space will work well for department day to day operations and the feeling is mutual in that it will benefit the community transit operation.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the proposed lease agreement for Parks & Recreation Staff office space during the construction period of the new library and remodel of old library space and authorize the mayor
to sign all necessary documents.
