AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREMI*
FLORIDA, REQUIRING THE OWNERS OF VACANT LOTS
TO KEEP THE SAI��E CLFdiiv AIM FREE OF `iiEEDS,
TRAS?I, UNDERGROWTH, BRUSH, FILTH, GARBAGE
AND OTHER REFUSE; PROVIDING FOR CLEANING BY
THE TOWN AND ASSESSMENT OF COST THEREOF SHOULD
OWNERS FAIL OR REFUSE TO CLEk4 AFTER NOTICE;
OTHER MATTERS RENTING THERETO.
BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE TOWN C0I0IISSION OF THE TOWN
OF GULF STRF..kLM, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Town Commission, through the Town
Clerk, or otherwise, shall ascertain from time to time whether
vacant lots within the Town are kept clean and free of weeds,
trash, undergrowth, brush, filth, garbage and other refuse. If
it shall ascertain that any lots are not so kept it shall order
the owners of such lots to clean the sane within ten days from
the service of notice upon them, which notice may be served per-
sonally, by phone or by mail. In case the owner of any lot shall
fail to comply with the order of the Town Commission within the
ten days prescribed, then and in that event the Town Commission
shall proceed to clean such lots and pay for the same out of any
funds in the town treasury available for that purpose. The cost
of cleaning such lots, plus ten (10) per cent. for administra-
tion and accounting, shall be assessed against the lots cleaned
and the amount shall also be the personal obligation of the own-
ers to the Town. Such cost shall be a lien against the property
cleaned and the amount thereof shall be due and payable within
thirty (30) days after notice of assessment has been mailed to
the owner or owners by the Town Cler'- Interest shall accrue
on all unpaid assessments after said thirty day period at the

rate of six (6) per cent. per annum until paid. The notifica-
tion required by this ordinance may be carried out by the Town
Clerk or any other Town employee directed to do so.
Section 2. This ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and proper posting according to the
charter act o� the Town.
