AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY ADDING A
NEW SECTION 9279 TO THE TEMPLE CITY ZONING CODE
RELATING TO VACATED BUSINESSES
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES ORDAIN:
SECTION 1. The City Council, after proceeding as required
by law, adopts the addition of Section 9279 to the Temple City
Zoning Code, adding as follows:
Sec. 9279: Vacated Buildings.
Whenever any commercial building, or unit thereof, has been
vacant for a period of time hereinafter set forth, then upon ten
days' notice from the City Manager, the owner or person in posses-
sion of such property shall comply with the following requirements,
as provided in said notice, and failure to do so shall constitute
a violation of this code and the maintenance of a public nuisance:
A. All signs upon the property indicating a prior business
activity shall be removed as follows:
1. Conforming signs for conforming businesses: all copy
and /or business identification shall be removed
after 15 days' vacancy.
2. Non - conforming signs or conforming signs for non-
conforming businesses: all signs and supporting
structures shall be removed after 30 days' vacancy.
B. All driveways and curb cuts, not remaining in active use,
shall be closed off by such temporary measures as may be
approved by the City Manager, including the installation
of stand pipes or pipes and chains, so as to prevent
access onto parking areas.
C. All buildings shall be secured immediately upon vacation
so as to prevent ingress.
Any decision by the City Manager under this Section may be
appealed by the owner or person in possession, as provided in
Section 9273.
SECTION 2, The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Ordinance and shall cause it to be published as required by
law.

held on the 20th day of December, 1977, by the following vote:
