HomeMy Public PortalAboutDecember Library Dept. reportMemo / To: City Council From: Meg Lojek, Library Director CC: Anette Spickard, City Manager Date: 11/22/21 Re: Monthly Department Report – (previous month) Outdoor Classes, Workshops, Events: Idaho Writer in Residence CMarie Furhman hosts weekly mini writing workshops for adults every Tuesday in the Idaho Room. ESL tutoring continues for free. Librarians now host monthly “Happy Hour” book discussions around the firepit. Family reading week -Take and Make kids journals, fireside stories and marshmallow roasting were enjoyed by 20 local families. 11/27 to 12/13 - Super motivation for practice reading and writing: deposit your letter to Santa in the special box outside the library, before December 13, and Santa will write you back! Virtual Programs: Doing Democracy is scheduled for November 30 to discuss “What is happening with the McCall Endowment Lands?” Email library@mccall.id.us to receive a Zoom invite. Ready for Kindergarten Workshops were well attended. The workshops will take a break now until the first part of 2022. Library Board of Trustees: Matt Stebbins appointed as newest member and now the Board is full again. The Board is tracking the hard work of consultants and city staff to finalize design plans for the library expansion project. Library Stats: October statistics are included in this report. There are several new requirements for statistics collection at the State and Federal levels; therefore we are adapting how we track participation and use of the library.
