HomeMy Public PortalAboutGOLF Department Report February 2022Memo / To: City Council From: Eric McCormick, Golf Course Superintendent CC: Anette Spickard, City Manager Date: 1/9/2023 Re: Monthly Department Report –February 2022 Weather: February was clearer and colder than last year. Normally we get a lot of snow during the month, and we received little putting us 12 inches behind normal. We were receiving rain the last day of the month. Staff: At the end of February, we were at 2 full time and 3 seasonal staff. We are advertising for a mechanic. Calvin continued working on equipment and picked up some of the assistant responsibilities. We still have 3 seasonal staff help with snow removal and work on projects. Seasonal staff is working about 30 hours a week. Greens: Greens are all covered with about 2 feet of snow. The frost has mostly gone out of the ground so will handle rain and melt nicely. Club House This month we finished the new counter tops and sinks in the upstairs bathrooms. We are also working with the city engineer and Crestline to finalize the plans for the ramp rebuild project so we can go to bid soon. The clubhouse roof slid and is piled in front of the west door again. We are working on a CIP to replace the roof with shingles and keep the snow up there. Also working with Energy Seal to do more insulation to keep the roof from ice damming when we shingle. Restaurant: Banyans is on its winter days/hours so will only be open Thursday at 4 through Sunday afternoon for the winter. They were only open their winter hours during winter carnival because of staffing issues where they are usually open the whole week. Maintenance Building Staff sheet rocked the ceiling in the back room of the shop. We also updated the lighting in the back and painted in the second bay where are parts inventory is. We also expanded the shelving and bins to accommodate more parts. Painted the floor in the break room area and bathroom. Will finish painting the other two bays over the next couple of weeks. Walking Paths Paths have been very busy. There has been a total of 1611 pounds of dog poop deposited in the receptacles by the end of the month. There are still a lot of people not picking up, but the majority are. Paths the end of the month were very slick with the rain.
