HomeMy Public PortalAboutD1. 2022-05-12 - CEDD Department ReportMemo / To: City Council From: Michelle Groenevelt, AICP, Community & Economic Development Director CC: Anette Spickard, City Manager Date: 5/12/22 Re: Monthly Department Report – April 2022 Housing: A draft of the Housing Action Plan is anticipated to be available for review in late May. The Local Housing Action Plan Steering Committee will meet May 26, 9am to 10:30 am to review the draft plan and make any comments to inform the final plan. Weekly meetings to implement “The Toaster” relocation project are being held with staff and construction management to initiate the structure move as soon as possible. Long-range Planning: The Valley County Waterways Management Plan data collection will continue this summer with additional site intercept surveying. You can learn more about the project here: http://www.co.valley.id.us/w aterways-management-plan/ The first series of public input questionnaires, focus groups and special events for the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan will occur late May through July. A web site for the plan effort is being drafted and will launch soon. The Craig Group, consultants helping with the update to the McCall Historic Preservation Plan, will be onsite conducing interviews and focus groups May 9-11. A draft plan is expected in late May. Code Updates: Staff continues to work with the Fire District, Clerks Dept, and legal to address STRs permitting and regulations. Other code amendments public hearing at PZ was April 5 and was recommended for approval to City Council and the County Commissioners. Urban Renewal: The next MRA meeting will be held July 19. GIS: Gene is making final preparations to turn over GIS tasks to new staff. The focus has been on documentation and clean-up so that the incoming staff can find a clean, well-documented system that will be easy to decode. Seasonal help is not yet on-board, so some field work is taking place. Building: See attached Building Permit report. Rachel Santiago-Govier took a Permit Technician exam training course and is to take the certification exam in the coming weeks. She also celebrated her 4-year work anniversary at the City of McCall. Current Planning: See attached Planning Permit report. Grants: Idaho Commerce has awarded the City of McCall $50,000 to support relocation and site improvement costs for “The Toaster” local housing unit. See attached Grant Report for status of additional active and pending grants. Public Art: Two finalist artists for the Library Integrated Public Artwork Project have been selected by a volunteer citizen selection committee. Over the next couple of months, these finalists will create specific artwork design proposals for the Library that will then be routed for public input prior to final selection and contracting.
