HomeMy Public PortalAboutInfoSys Dept Report August 2022Memo / To: City Council From: Chris Curtin, Information Systems Manager CC: Anette Spickard, City Manager Date: 9-8-2022 Re: Monthly Department Report – August 2022 Network Infrastructure, Projects and Services: Staff is working with Parks and Rec to add conduit for future fiber connectivity on the museum property. This is part of a joint trench project that is upgrading the power connections on the property. 4 buildings will be connected to conduit. There is no current plan to connect these buildings with fiber. Staff attended the annual Elements user conference presented by Novotx. Elements is utilized by Public Works as their primary software interface. Elements provides asset management, tracking and trouble ticket management as it primary capabilities. The conference covered advanced capabilities of the software like workflows and in-depth reporting. Additional staff training will be provided this Fall to help the City integrate some of these new capabilities. Staff will be installing new hardware to replace our main server infrastructure (Nutanix). The original hardware was installed in 2016 and has reached end of life. This is a major upgrade that will essentially replace all of the physical hardware that runs 100% of the City software. This upgrade will not disrupt any daily workflow and will increase overall application performance.
