AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE
AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM THE
NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS
WHEREAS, In accordance with Indiana Code (IC) 36-1-4-10, a municipality may
execute any documents necessary to receive money from the state or
federal government or any other source, and said documents are prepared
and executed by the City executive administration, provided that the
Common Council of the City of Richmond as the legislative body of the
City approves an ordinance for the appropriation of any monies received
in accordance with IC 36-4-6-1 S; and
WHEREAS, The National Endowment for the Arts has additional grant funding in the
amount of Fifty Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($50,000.00) available
through its Our Town fund; and
WHEREAS, The City of Richmond has submitted or will submit a grant application to
obtain the funds on behalf of Indiana University East and the Richmond
Arts Museum; and
WHEREAS, The funds obtained will be used for creative placemaking projects that
contribute to the livability of the Richmond Community and the placement
of arts at the community's core by Indiana University East and the
Richmond Arts Museum; and
WHEREAS, A local match is required and will be met through both cash and in -kind
labor from Indiana University East and the Richmond Arts Museum in an
amount up to One Hundred Ten Thousand One Hundred Thirty-two
Dollars and Zero Cents ($110,132.00) and will also be met through a cash
contribution by the City from EDIT funds in the amount of up to Five
Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($5,000.00).
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, as follows:
1. The City of Richmond in accordance with IC 36-1-4-10 has submitted or will
submit a grant application to the National Endowment for the Arts to assist Indiana
University East and the Richmond Art Museum with creative placemaking projects that
contribute to the livability of the Richmond Community and the placement arts at the
community's core.
2. The City of Richmond is hereby authorized to accept from the National
Endowment for the Arts the Our Town grant funding in an amount up to Fifty Thousand
Dollars and Zero Cents ($50,000.00).
3. The local match consisting of cash and in -kind labor will be provided by
Indiana University East and the Richmond Arts Museum and a cash contribution: from the
City from EDIT funds.
4. Said funds, as awarded to the City of Richmond, shall be appropriated to be
granted to Indiana University East and the Richmond Arts Museum.
