HomeMy Public PortalAbout022-1988-AMENDING ORDINANCE 37-1987AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AMENDED ORDINANCE NO.37-1987 (1988 SALARY ORDINANCE FOR THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1988 AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1988). WHEREAS, Amended Ordinance No. 37-1987 established the various positions and salaries for the officers and employees of the Department of Economic Development of the City of Richmond; and, WHEREAS, the Common Council approved the positions and salaries for the Department of Economic Development as set forth in Amended Ordinance No. 37-1987; and, WHEREAS, it is now necessary due to reorganization of the Department of Economic Development to amend the position title, classification and annual salary as set forth in Amended Ordinance No. 37-1987; NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana: SECTION 1. That beginning May 1, 1988 and ending December 31, 1988 the following positions and salaries be deleted from Amended Ordinance No. 37-1987. Department of Economic Development Secretary Comot 1 14,893 SECTION 2. Mayor ATTEST: ')Ih�����....� a City CI rk POSITION DESCRIPTION CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA POSITION: Economic Development Assistant DEPARTMENT: Economic Development JOB CATEGORY: PAT Incumbent serves as Economic Development Assistant providing professional support to the Economic Development Director. DUTIES: Maintain and continually update the active prospect file, making sure they are contacted on a timely basis. Update on at least an annual basis the Richmond/Wayne County audit, Wayne County Demographics and other pertinent date brochures and needs. Maintain and update monthly any and all available buildings and sites in and around the Richmond area. To provide basic research capabilities to the Director as needed, pertaining to specific project requirements. To assist the Director in the formation of presentations to clients on an as needed basis. To work with clients and respond to their needs in the absence of or with the direction of the Director. Maintains and updates department purchase order files and inventory of department office supplies and equipment and submits requisitions as needed. Assists Director in the compilation of information and typing and re- lated preparation of grant proposals, and presentation and promotional materials used to promote economic development programs. Oversees operation of the Department in the absence of the Director. Perform other related duties as deemed necessary by both the Director and the goals and policy outlines of the Board. I. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Working knowledge of public and private economic development programs. Working knowledge of industrial development and ability to effectively compile promotional materials and represent the City. Ability to interpret data associated with economic development to wide public. Working knowledge of local, State, and Federal Economic Development Programs. Working knowledge of grant writing and data retension to facilitate accountability. Knowledge of and ability to use office equipment such as copier, telephone, calculator, computer, and typewriter. Ability to maintain files, records, and documents and to effectively utilize computer data bases for the gathering and.compil.ation of.in- formation. Ability to effectively communicate with community, city officials, and business leaders. Ability to maintain confidential information. Must work evenings, weekends, and holidays as determined by the Director. Ability to legally operate a vehicle. II. DIFFICULTY OF WORK: Receives general assignments requiring research assemilation and inter- pretation of data and related informtion to draw conclusions to comply with general rules and practices of Economic Growth. Maintain a high level of confidentiality. III. RESPONSIBILITY: Incumbent performs a variety of duties according to the established practices and procedures of the department, using judgement and taking personal action in determination and implementation of the best methods to achieve desired results. Errors in decision or accuracy of work are not immediately detected by procedural safe- guards of supervisory review of work and may lead to substantial loss of time to department and/or loss of potential business ex- pansion for the City. Incumbent receives general instructions and performs majority of tasks according to department practices and procedures, with work reviewed during critical phases and upon completion for accuracy and conformance with directions, compliance with department policies, and progress in obtaining stated goals and objectives. IV. PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Incumbent maintains frequent contact with department ➢irector, re- presentatives of various City committees, Indiana Department of Commerce, Economic Development and Growth Board, business and community leaders and other members of the general public assign- ments explaining programs and promoting the City for business expansion. Reports directly to Director.
