AUTHORIZING FYNAL DISCIPLINARY ACTION
WHEREAS, on January 25, 2002, Police Chief John Pieczyski issued a
formal Preliminary Notice of Disciplinary Action against Police Sgt. Michael
Huchko; and
WHEREAS, on August 14, 2002, the governing body conducted a
disciplinary hearing with regard to the charges lodged against Sgt. Huchko; and
WHEREAS, at said hearing testimony was received from witnesses on
behalf of Sgt. Huchko and the Carteret Police DeparUnent, and evidentiary
exhibits of the respective parties were received and entered into the record of the
hearing; and
WHEREAS, on September 30, 2002, the governing body received written
submissions from counsel for the respective parties; and
WHEREAS, the governing body, having considered all of the testimony,
evidentiary exhibits, and written submissions of the parties, does find that there
are sufficient facts and information in the record of the proceeding in this matter
to sustain the charges against Sgt. Huchko.
NOW, THEREFORE BE 1T RESOLVED by the Mayor and Coun0il of
the Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, aa follows:
1. That Michael Huchko be and is hereby removed from his
position as a Sergeant in the Carteret Police Department effective
January 24, 2002.
2. That Police Chief John Pieczyski is h6reby authorized and
directed to issue a Final Notice of Disciplinary Action in
accordance with the findings of the governing body as expressed
herein.
3. That the appropriate Boroush officials are hereby
authorized to take all necessary actions to implement the
provisions of this Resolution.

and certified as a true copy of the
original on October 18, 2002.
