SUPPORTING S-1373 /A-2069- CLEAN COMMUNITIES
PROGRAM REAUTHORIZATION
WHEREAS, the Borough of Cartemt ("Borough") strives to maintain a clean, litter-free
community for its residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, the Borough's litter and graff~ti removal program has benefited
immeasurable from funding provided by the New Jersey Clean Communities Program;
and
WHEREAS, without the assistance of Clean Communities funding, the Borough's litter
abatement program will be greatly hampered and cannot be maintained at its intended
level; and
WHEREAS, S-1373 / A-2069 are presently pending before the New Jersey State
Legislature and would provide for the reauthorization of the Clean Communities
Program; and
WHEREAS, the failure to reauthorize funding for the Clean Communities Program
would have a dire impact on local litter and graffiti removal programs not only in the
Borough, but throughout the State of New Jersey.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, and State of New Jersey as follows:
1. That the New Jersey State Legislature is hereby urged to move
expeditiously and pass S-1373 / A-2069 that provide for reauthorization
and renewal of the New Jersey Clean Communities Program.
2. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to The Honorable
James E. McGreevy, Governor, Senator Joseph Vitale, Assemblywoman
Arlene Friscia, Assemblyman John Wisneiwski, members of the New
Jersey Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee and the New Jersey
State League of Municipalities.
