THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MAY 10, 2007
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M.,
Thursday, May 10, 2007, in the Community Room at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th
Street, Richmond, Indiana. In attendance were Board Members Vicki Robinson, Dian Lawson
and Mary Jo Flood. Also attending were Assistant City Attorney Kenyatta Cox and Captain
Terry Hopkins.
The following business was conducted:
CALL TO ORDER
Robinson called the meeting to order and noted for the minutes that all board members and legal
counsel were present.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Robinson made a request to the board to approve the minutes for the May 3, 2007 meeting.
Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously
passed.
CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT
Robinson made a request to the board to approve the claims for payment in the amount of
$393,094.78. Some of the larger items includes a payment to Fred First Ford for 10 Crown
Victorias for the Police Department, $74,920.00 to Spear Corp for a pool filter system and
$42,582.00 to Bowlin Construction for curbs, sidewalks and ramps on North 7th Street from "A"
to "D" Streets. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was
unanimously passed.
REQUEST
A. Robinson brought a request to the board that was presented by Captain Terry Hopkins
for the approval to close NW 8th Street from West Main Street to Peacock Road,
Peacock Road from NW 8th Street to NW 13th Street and NW 13th Street from
Peacock Road to Indiana Avenue on Saturday, May 12, 2007 starting at 9:00 AM for
approximately 1 '/z to 2 hours for the Annual Richmond Optimist Club Opening Day
Parade. The request is also asking for a Police Escort. Flood made a motion to
approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed.
B. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Captain Terry Hopkins
for the approval to hold the 9th Annual Girls Inc. US Bank 5K Run and for the Police

Department to help with traffic control during the event that is to be held on Saturday,
May 12, 2007 beginning at 7:30 AM. The event is to take place at the Middlefork
Reservoir and Oak Park residential area. Lawson made a motion to approve with a
second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed.
Assistant City Attorney Kenyatta Cox brought up the fact that the motion for the
Optimist Opening Day Parade did not include the approval for the rain date of May,
19, 2007. Flood made a motion to approve the rain date of May 19, 2007 with a
second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed.
C. Robinson made a request to the board to approve two curb cuts. They are as follows:
1) 1203 South 20th Street — Lawson made a motion to approve with a
second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed.
2) 1018 South 19t11 Street — Flood made a motion to approve with a
second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed unanimously. The
meeting was adjourned.
