HomeMy Public PortalAbout2020-12-10 - CDBG/ENTITLEMENT GRANTS PUBLIC NOTICE CITY OF LYNWOOD CFDA TITLE: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANTS/ENTITLEMENT GRANTS (Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance(CFDA) Number: 14.218 and CFDA TITLE: HOME INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIPS PROGRAM (Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) Number: 14.239 BEGINNING THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2020, THE CITY OF LYNWOOD WILL BE ACCEPTING PUBLIC SERVICE AND COMMUNITY HOUSING DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION APPLICATIONS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2021-22 FOR THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM (CDBG) AND HOME INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIPS PROGRAM (HOME), RESPECTIVELY. For the CDBG program, the City is seeking proposals from eligible 501(c)(3) organizations with proven professional experience in public service activities that benefit low- to moderate- income Lynwood residents. Basic eligible public services include childcare, job training and education, recreation, crime awareness, general welfare, health or drug abuse prevention. For the HOME program, the City is seeking proposals from bona-fide Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDO's). The primary objective of a CHDO is the development of housing opportunities for low- to moderate-income Lynwood residents. Federal funding awards have not yet been announced. The funding available for CDBG public service activities is estimated at $170,000 and for HOME CHDO activities is estimated at $84,000 based on the current year's budget, but will not be certain until federal notification of awards and City Council budget approval. Cuts to CDBG and HOME are being considered by Congress at this time. Funds are available for a one-year grant cycle beginning July 1, 2021. Alternatively, a copy of the application may be picked up in person from the City of Lynwood, Community Development Department, 11330 Bullis Road, Lynwood, 90262. DEADLINE FOR RETURNING COMPLETED APPLICATIONS IS 5:00 P.M., THURSDAY, JANUARY 14, 2021. POSTMARKS AND LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. All application must be returned to the City of Lynwood, Community Development Department (Attention: Michelle Ramirez), 11330 Bullis Road, Lynwood, 90262 or via email at mramirez@lynwood.ca.us. To hand deliver an application, please schedule an appointment through the City's website (http://Iynwood.ca.us/appointment-directory/). You would make the appointment under the heading of "Community Development Department, Meeting with Community Development Staff". A representative from your organization must also be present at a public hearing before the CDBG Advisory Board that will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. via TELECONFERENCE VIA WEBEX.
