HomeMy Public PortalAboutRES 96/02RESOLUTION 96 -2 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COMMISION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, FLORIDA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, SUPPORTING THE DISSOLUTION OF THE SOUTH LAKE WORTH INLET DISTRICT AND THE ASSUMPTION OF THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE SOUTH LAKE WORTH INLET DISTRICT BY PALM BEACH COUNTY; EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the South Lake Worth Inlet District (the "District ") was created by Chapter 7080, Laws of Florida, in 1915 to construct and maintain an inlet in said District to connect the waters of Lake Worth with the Atlantic Ocean; and WHEREAS, the primary purpose of the District, i.e., the construction and establishment of an inlet connecting the waters of Lake Worth with the Atlantic Ocean, has been accomplished; and WHEREAS, maintenance of the inlet no longer requires the existenance of a special taxing district; and WHEREAS, maintenance of the inlet by Palm Beach County would be more efficient and economical for the citizens within the existing special taxing District, and for the citizens of the Town of Gulf Stream and Palm Beach County as a whole. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, FLORIDA, that: Section 1. The Town Commission of the Town of Gulf Stream hereby supports and approves the proposed special act of the Florida Legislature to dissolve the South Lake Worth Inlet District and assign the control and maintenance of the South Lake Worth Inlet to Palm Beach County. SECTION 2. The Town Clerk shall forward copies of this Resolution to Palm Beach County and all municipalities in Palm Beach County. Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage. PASSED AND ADOPTED in a regular adjourned session assembled this 9th day of February , 1996. M, 11 ON.
