WHEREAS; Emergency Response to critical incidents, whether natural or manmade,
requires integrated management, and
WHEREAS; Unified Command of such incidents is recognized as the management
model to maximize the public safety response, and
WHEREAS; The National Incident Management System,herein referred to as NIMS,has
been identified by the Federal Government as being the requisite emergency management
system for all political subdivisions, and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RIVERDALE, IOWA to adopt the NIMS concept of emergency planning and unified
command for use in the City of Riverdale, Iowa as its system of preparing for and
responding to emergencies, and direct that appropriate city officers and employees be
trained in the use of NIMS.
PASSED, APPROVED,AND ADOPTED THIS 7TH DAY OF NOVEMBER 2006.
