HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution No. 537-21 04-12-2021 RESOLUTION NO. 537-21 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS REQUESTING TARRANT COUNTY INCLUDE RECONSTRUCTION OF BOOTH CALLOWAY ROAD AS PART OF THE TARRANT COUNTY 2021 TRANSPORTATION BOND PROGRAM; REQUESTING THAT TARRANT COUNTY FUND FIFTY PERCENT OF THE PAVING, DRAINAGE,WATER AND SANITARY SEWER COSTS OF BOOTH CALLOWAY ROAD; AND CONFIRMING THAT FUNDS HAVE BEEN DESIGNATED FOR THE LOCAL MATCH NEEDED FROM RICHLAND HILLS TO FUND THE BOOTH CALLOWAY ROAD PROJECT WHEREAS, Tarrant County has published a Call for Projects for the purpose of participating in the Tarrant County 2021 Transportation Bond Program which was adopted to assist in the implementation of a dependable and efficient transportation system throughout the county; and WHEREAS, the City Council of Richland Hills, Texas has determined that the reconstruction of Booth Calloway Road is necessary to provide for the safe, efficient, and reliable travel of persons and improved traffic flow for the preservation of economic vitality and goods movement; and WHEREAS, the City Council hereby affirms its support for the design and reconstruction of Booth Calloway Road from Glenview Drive to the threshold of the new intersection at Baker Boulevard / Loop 820 to include pavement reconstruction, new curb and gutter and drainage improvements; and WHEREAS, Booth Calloway Road sits on the border of Richland Hills and Hurst and, therefore, the City of Richland Hills will coordinate the reconstruction of Booth Calloway Road with the City of Hurst as the improvements will benefit both cities. The project will increase mobility, reduce congestion, enhance safety and improve connectivity in the Northeast Tarrant region. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The City Council confirms support of the design and reconstruction of Booth Calloway Road and supports the submittal of this project to Tarrant County for inclusion in the 2021 Transportation Bond Program. The Mayor is hereby authorized to send a Letter of Request for this project to Tarrant County as required by the Bond Program Policy. SECTION 2. The City Council hereby confirms that funds have been designated for the fifty percent (50%) local funding match required from Richland Hills in order to fund the Booth Calloway Road project. The City Council further confirms that construction can begin on this project within five (5) years from the date the Transportation Bond Program is approved by the voters. SECTION 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute any required agreements with Tarrant County for the purpose of having this project qualify for funding as approved herein.
