A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD,
COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, APPROVING
THE INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS ALTERNATIVE FOR THE
IMPERIAL HIGHWAY CORRIDOR CAPACITY ENHANCEMENTS
PROJECT
WHEREAS,the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority(Metro)
approved to fund, in the amount of $865,000, the Project Approval and Environmental
Document (PA &ED); and Plans and Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) for the
Imperial Highway Corridor Capacity Enhancement Project; and
WHEREAS, on August 8, 2019, the City Council approved a Memorandum of
Understanding between the City and Metro for Metro to carry out the preparation of the
Project Approval and Environmental Document (PA& ED); and Plans, Specifications and
Estimates (PS&E) with consultation from the City; and
WHEREAS, after review of alternatives for operational enhancements on Imperial
Highway during peak hours, staff recommends an alternative which would focus
improvements along Imperial Highway at four key and deficient intersections to improve
traffic operations and safety without adding an extra travel lane in each direction_
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Lynwood approves the Intersection
Improvements Alternative for the Imperial Highway Corridor Capacity Enhancements
Project.
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Lynwood authorizes the City Engineer to
continue to work with Metro on the Project and address refinements to the Project as
needed.
Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and hereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
