ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD, ILLINOIS
1. Time and Place of Opening Bids. Sealed proposals for the construction of the Route 30 Water
Main Improvements – North for the Village of Plainfield, Will County, Illinois, will be received at the Village
at 24401 West Lockport Street, Plainfield, Illinois 60544 until 10 A.M., August 25, 2016, and at that time
will be publicly opened and unit price total read aloud.
2. Description of Work. The proposed construction consists of the replacement of approximately
3,800 lineal feet of water main along Route 30, between Coil Plus Drive and 135th Street. Construction is
mostly open cut replacement with several locations of horizontal directional drilling and one location of
jacked installation under a railroad. Construction also includes installation of new valves, new hydrants,
the abandonment of existing water main and appurtenances, and other miscellaneous items of work.
3. Information for Bidders. All pertinent documents may be examined at the Village Hall at 24401
West Lockport Street, Plainfield, Illinois 60544 or on the internet at www.bhfxplanroom.com.
Copies of the Bidding Documents may be obtained from BHFX Digital Imaging,
www.bhfxplanroom.com, upon a non‐refundable payment of $75.00 per set. Documents can only be
purchased through BHFX Digital Imaging.
Not less than the prevailing rate of wages as determined by the Department of Labor or
determined by the court on review shall be paid to all laborers, workmen and mechanics performing work
under this contract.
The Village of Plainfield is exempt from the Illinois State, municipal or county Retailers Occupation
Tax, Service Occupation Tax, Use Tax, and Service Use Tax as described in Illinois Compiled Statute Chapter
35. Bid prices shall not include the cost of such taxes.
All Bids must be accompanied by a Bidder's bond, certified check, bank cashier's check or bank
draft payable to the Village of Plainfield for ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the Bid as provided in
the Bidder Instructions.
4. Rejection of Bids. The Board of Trustees reserves the right to reject any or all Bids and to waive
technicalities. Unless the Bids are rejected for good cause, award of contract shall be made to the lowest
responsible and responsive Bidder.
