A RESOLUTION SETTING A DATE FOR PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING AMENDING
THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF TIFFIN, IOWA, CHAPTER 155.02 "FIRE SAFETY
PROVISIONS ", TO ADD AN EXCEPTION FOR THOSE BUILDINGS LISTED IN 155.02(1)
WHEN CONSTRUCTION WAS COMPLETED BEFORE DECEMBER 31, 2008, AND
WHICH HAVE HAD NO ADDITIONS OR ALTERATIONS SINCE THAT DATE
Whereas, The City finds it necessary to amend Chapter 155.02, Fire Safety Provisions, to
add an exception, and;
Whereas the City Council of the City of Tiffin requests public comments regarding the
amending of this Chapter;
Now, therefore be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Tiffin, Iowa to set the public
hearing date for January 9, 2013 regarding amending the municipal code of Tiffin, Iowa,
Chapter 155.02 "Fire Safety Provisions ", to add an exception for those buildings listed in
155.02(1) when construction was completed before December 31, 2008, and which have had
no additions or alterations since that date.
On the 19th day of December, 2012, at a regular meeting of the Tiffin City Council, Tiffin,
Iowa, Councilperson Kahler introduced Resolution No. 2012 -90, A RESOLUTION SETTING
A DATE FOR PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
TIFFIN, IOWA, CHAPTER 155.02 "FIRE SAFETY PROVISIONS ", TO ADD AN
EXCEPTION FOR THOSE BUILDINGS LISTED IN 155.02(1) WHEN CONSTRUCTION
WAS COMPLETED BEFORE DECEMBER 31, 2008, AND WHICH HAVE HAD NO
ADDITIONS OR ALTERATIONS SINCE THAT DATE and made a motion for approval.
Motion seconded by Councilperson Ryan.
Ayes: Ryan, Kahler, Upton, Bartels, Phillips
Nays: None
Absent: None
Whereupon five Council members were present and voted approval and Mayor Berner
declared that the A RESOLUTION SETTING A DATE FOR PUBLIC HEARING
REGARDING AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF TIFFIN, IOWA, CHAPTER 155.02
"FIRE SAFETY PROVISIONS ", TO ADD AN EXCEPTION FOR THOSE BUILDINGS
LISTED IN 155.02(1) WHEN CONSTRUCTION WAS COMPLETED BEFORE DECEMBER
31, 2008, AND WHICH HAVE HAD NO ADDITIONS OR ALTERATIONS SINCE THAT
DATEto be adopted and signified his approval of the same by affixing his signature thereto.
Passed by the City Council on the 19th day of December, 2012.
