The commission asks members of the public to conduct themselves in a respectful, courteous manner with the commission members and with fellow citizens. At any time should any member of the commission or any citizen fail to observe this public charge, the chair or the chair’s designee will ask the offending person to leave the meeting until that individual regains personal control. Should decorum fail to be restored, the chair or the chair’s designee will recess the meeting until such time that a genuine commitment to this public charge can be observed. 1. Commission’s mission statement To identify, protect, and preserve Hillsborough’s architectural resources and to educate the public about those resources and preservation in general. The Hillsborough Historic District presents a visual history of Hillsborough’s development from the 1700s to the 1960s. In 1973, the town chose to respect that history through the passage of the preservation ordinance creating the historic district. 3. Agenda changes 4. Minutes review and approval A. Corbin St. — Applicant Ryan Edwards on behalf of Zachary and Jennifer Read requests approval to remove an existing rear deck and patio and to construct a new rear addition and screened porch with a flat-roofed connector and to add a new front and rear painted wood picket fence (PIN: 9864-98-9916). B. Certificate of Appropriateness Application: 103 E. Tryon St. — Applicant John Clark on behalf of Thomas and Merrie Magnuson requests approval to add an 8’ x 12’ side and rear bathroom addition and to repurpose an existing window from the house onto the addition and transplant boxwoods from the northern end of the property to the southern side of the property to help screen the addition (PIN: 9874- 06-6984). C. Preliminary Design Review: 401 North Churton St. — Applicant Brian Shepard on behalf of Landmark Management Partners, LLC, requests HDC comment on proposed design modifications to the existing exterior of the building, including the addition of a large shed-roofed dormer and overhang to the east elevation, and relocating existing door openings and adding a new entry door, two new shed-roofed Historic District Commission Agenda | 2 of 2 dormers, two balconies, two covered porches and numerous window and siding changes to the existing south elevation (PIN: 9874-08-3136). 7.
