A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF GULF
STREAM, FLORIDA, URGING THE PALM BEACH COUNTY
LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION TO SPONSOR LEGISLATION FOR THE
LOWERING OF TOLLS ON FLORIDA'S TURNPIKE TO IMPROVE
SAFETY ON INTERSTATE 95; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
Whereas, tolls on Florida's Turnpike have risen dramatically
in the last six years; and
Whereas, there has been a rise in the number of trucks and
truck - related accidents on Interstate 95 in Palm Beach County
during this same time period; and
Whereas, there is an apparent correlation between the higher
tolls on Florida's Turnpike and the increase in the number of
truck and truck - related accidents on Interstate 95; and
Whereas, a lowering of tolls on Florida's Turnpike would
reduce the number of trucks and truck- related accidents on
Interstate 95,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE
TOWN OF GULF STREAM, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Town Commission of the Town of Gulf
Stream, Florida urges the Palm Beach County Legislative
Delegation to sponsor legislation to reduce tolls on Florida's
Turnpike to improve safety on Interstate 95.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon passage and shall be sent to the Palm Beach County
Legislative Delegation, the Palm Beach County Board of County
Commissioners, every municipality in Palm Beach County and the
Palm Beach County Municipal League.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Town of Gulf Stream, Florida at a
special meeting of the Town Commission on this 20th day of
September, 1995.
