You are recei ving this letter because the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health would like to
invite you to apply to participate in the 2023 Community Health Academy.
Community Health Academy (CHA) is a learnin g collaborative that focuses on the role
municipalities play in community health . CHA has been offered since 2017. Upon completion of
CHA , cities receive funding for a project based on learnings of the academy.
Please note that the 2023 Community Health Academy is for mayors and city staff who have not
previously attended the Community Health Academy.
Here 's how CHA works:
1. Mayors and city staffers (up to two from each participating city) from across Idaho will
meet monthly from June through October to learn from local and national experts on
important topics that impact the health of communities . The meetings are a mix of in-
person and virtual sessions. Travel expenses will be covered by the Blue Cross of Idaho
Foundation for Health (the Foundation).
2. Upon completion of the learning sessions, each community will meet with the
Foundation staff to discuss a program or project it would like to launch with CHA
funding.
3. All funds and travel reimbursements will be issued in the form of a grant before
December 31 , 2023 .
Here is a tentati ve schedule for the 2023 Academy:
• June 16: In-person Academy launch, plus communications and storytelling, at
Association ofldaho Cities Conference, Boi se. CHA session is from 1-3 :30 p .m.
• July 11,12, 13: Webinars on Food Systems. Cities will attend one webinar that is tailored
to the size of your city.
• August 9: In-person sessions on Housing and Civility, Boise
• September 13 : Webinar on Early Education and Childcare
• October 2-5: In-person sessions on Designing Healthy Communities . Cities will attend
one session located in their geographic region .
