AN APPROPRIAITON ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL,
RECEIPT, AND APPROPRIATION OF GRANT FUNDS FROM THE INDIANA
YOUTH INSTITUTE BY THE MAYOR'S YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL
WHEREAS, the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council submitted a grant proposal to the
Indiana Youth Institute on April 23, 1997; and
WHEREAS, on May 13, 1997 the Indiana Youth Institute awarded a grant in the sum of
One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00) to the Mayor's Youth
Advisory Council to be used to create a handbook for youth in the
Richmond area; and
WHEREAS, the handbook, which will be entitled, Let's Take Action, is for youth
created by youth; and
WHEREAS, the handbook is a step by step guide which will assist youth in becoming
community leaders by emphasizing the power of youth and where their
leadership skills, enthusiasm, energy and ideas can take them; and
WHEREAS, a reference directory will also be included in the handbook, making it easy
for youth to find the different agencies within the community in which to
volunteer.
WHEREAS, it is necessary to formally authorize the application for, receipt of,
appropriation of said grant funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana as follows:
1. The Mayor's Youth Advisory Council's application for and receipt of grant
proceeds from the Indiana Youth Institute is hereby authorized.
2. Said funds shall be appropriated to account no. 101-99-001-9914 (Indiana
Youth Institute Grant).
