MEMORANDUM
PRANK H. W ALTERMANN
MAYOR
NANCY E. MAC CARTNEY
SUPERINTENDENT or PARKS
AND RECREATION
TO: Mayor Waltermann and Dan Dooley
FROM: Nancy E. MacCartney, Superintendent of Parks and Recreation t'
SUBJECT: Mowing Non -Park City Property
DATE: June 9, 1986
cc: John Breese, Junior Kirkman, Tim Uhte
As per our conversation of last week the Richmond Parks and Recreation
Department is agreeable to working out a system for mowing non-park,,city
property. The following are the conditions as outlined at that meeting:
1. Mr. Dan Dooley will provide the Park Department a list of city owned
property and estimated acreage that need to be mowed on a regular basis.
We will also provide on an as needed basis other locations with the
understanding that it may take a few days to schedule these sites into the
system.
2. Park Department personnel, whom we fully train to operate the
mowers, vehicles and trailers, will be scheduled on a volunteer basis to
mow after work hours on weekdays and anytime on weekends. Mr. Tim Uhte
will be responsible for the selection, scheduling and supervision of these
employees.
3. Locations will be classified for mowing along the same lines as park
property with high use, high visibility areas being mowed more frequently
than low use, low visibility areas.
4. Mr. Tim Uhte will inspect all sites before scheduling staff to
determine if park mowing equipment is suitable for mowing a particular
site. If not, he will contact Mr. Dan Dooley and remove that site fro■
the schedule.
5. No personnel will be allowed on this special mowing crew if they abuse
the estimated time allowed to mow a particular site. Mr. Tim Uhte will
make regular inspections and keep detailed records of the work progress.
