HomeMy Public PortalAbout2021.016 - (02-02-21) DocuSign Envelope ID:61 BACA9A-803B-4DCF-A3E9-B70471 D9E735 RESOLUTION NO. 2021.016 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA CHANGING THE OFFICIAL CITY MOTTO FOR THE CITY OF LYNWOOD WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood was incorporated on July 16, 1921 and is duly organized and existing under the laws of the County of Los Angeles and the State of California; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council is the duly elected governing authority of the City of Lynwood; and WHEREAS, in recognition of the City's Centennial anniversary in the year 2021, the City Council desires to replace the current City motto ("A City Meeting Challenges") with one that more accurately reflects the significant progress that the City has achieved to date; that helps instill pride amongst its residents and that helps highlight the City's bright future; and WHEREAS, once the motto is approved by the City Council, it will be the official motto of the City of Lynwood; and WHEREAS, this resolution will benefit the general welfare of the City, its residents and the general public. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Lynwood finds and declares that the forgoing recitals are true and correct, and incorporates said recitals fully into this Resolution as substantive findings. Section 2. The City Council of the City of Lynwood hereby designates the following wording as the new City Motto: "Strength through Community" Section 3. The City Council of the City of Lynwood hereby instructs the City Manager to cause for the City motto used on City publications, signage, letterhead and in other forms to be replaced with this new City motto; and, discontinuation of the use and - production of the old motto by the City. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and hereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
