Dear Andrew:
Please find attached the conceptual improvement plan for proposed modifications to the right-in/right-out
driveway access to the Arsenal Yards Development. This plan was presented to the Watertown Planning
Board on December 14, 2016. As shown on the attached plan, the modifications to the right-in/right-out
driveway include:
• Modifying the existing island to prohibit restricted left turn movements by increasing the island
size
• Improving channelization with geometric changes and reduced entrance and exit lane widths
• Installing "NO Left Turn" signs facing Arsenal Street westbound and facing the driveway
northbound
• Shortening and realigning the driveway pedestrian crossings
• Installing new pedestrian warning signs at the crosswalks
Please note that consideration has also been given to the future Arsenal Street improvements. The curb line
of the delta island that is adjacent to Arsenal Street is proposed to be aligned with the rest of the curbing
along Arsenal Street. This will allow for the planned striped bicycle shoulders on Arsenal Street.
