Commercial Change of Occupancy Permit Application 14400 Coil Plus Dr. Plainfield, IL 60544 Phone (815) 439-2937 Fax (815) 609-6114 Web www.plainfield-il.org 3/14/16 COMMERCIAL INTERIOR CHANGE OF OCCUPANCY PERMIT REQUIREMENTS A Change of Occupancy Permit is a build out that only consists of bringing in furniture and nothing more.  Please start the change of occupancy permit process with the Building Department.  All new businesses require a business license. Contact Mary in the Building Department at 815-267-7247 for additional information.  Complete the permit application – include full description of scope of work and plans if applicable. If you are modifying walls, electrical and plumbing please fill out a commercial buildout permit.  A final inspection is required by the Fire Protection District. Contact Mary Ludemann at 815-436-5335. (This inspection may be scheduled before you receive the permit).  A final inspection must be scheduled with the Building Department (after the permit has been approved).  A pre-construction meeting may be required – this is determined by the Building Official.  Change of Occupancy permit fees are $20.00.
