AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION,
ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF AN INDIANA LAW
ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE FUND GRANT
WHEREAS, Governor O'Bannon has recently announced the availability of funding to
assist local law enforcement agencies; and
WHEREAS, said funding is to be used to place more police officers on the streets; and
WHEREAS, said funding is available from the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute
through its Indiana Law Enforcement Assistance Fund; and
WHEREAS, the Richmond Police Department desires to apply for said funding.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, as follows:
1. The Richmond Police Department is hereby authorized to apply for and accept
grant funding in the amount of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00) per year
for a period of three (3) years from the Indiana Law Enforcement Assistance Fund.
2. Said funds shall be appropriated for the funding of three (3) civilian positions
and the purchase of necessary police equipment. Creation of these civilian positions and
the purchase of additional equipment will enable police officers currently performing
such duties to be placed on patrol.
