McCall Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting
Tue., Feb. 21, 2012
Library Conference Room, 4:00 P. M.
Call to order : 4:05
Attendance :Jamie Bell, Ed Hershberger, Nancy Butler, Anne Kantola, Jacki Rubin, and Lynn Lewinski.
Minutes: Approved as presented.
Director's Report : The L.O.T. monies were received, $12,300.00 for shelving, excellent news.
Budget and Stats : Approved upon review.
Staff :Three of the staff on vacation has those here busy.
Friend's Report : At their meeting this afternoon they were happy with the $240.00 made at the Winter
Carnival book sale. The Boise V.A. will accept books not sold.
The Friends will sponsor a huge portable planetarium to be used during the Summer Reading Program.
We will invite Barbara Morgan to participate also.
Old Business :
Policy manual: Four sections are done, the next three begun so that we will comply with state
regulations.
Film Society Update and Discussion: We had a very diverse discussion on the last film shown and
the Library/Film group partnership. The end decision was to continue with more information given to
the public.
A film series has been attempted at various times in McCall with no long term success. This series is a
package for use by libraries and non -profits. At this time there has not been a choice of selection, only
what has been sent. The Board is making some adaptations to timing in order to be able to give more
review and consideration to films shown.
More information, disclaimers and inter -action is needed to allow the film series to be successful.
The availability to check out movies, rather than view them publically is a great alternative.
The community has shown great support for a movie series with participation as well as donating funds.
As with many projects, the beginning may not be perfect, but the effort is worthwhile.
New Business :
Annual Report to Council: Nancy will help compile, Lynn will help edit and present.
Inter -Library Loan Policy: On -going.
Mailing bags: Anne will order a trial sample with The Friends and The City of McCall logo, simple
return address, etc.
Loose ends: The bathrooms have been re -floored and plumbing issues attended to. Nice job.
