A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF VILLAGE OF
KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE
MANAGER TO CHANGE THE STATUS OF THE CHIEF BUILDING,
ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING, MECHANICAL INSPECTORS AND
THE BUILDING INSPECTOR FROM PART TIME TO FULL TIME
EMPLOYEES; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Village is experiencing a record number of building permits and
inspections; and
WHEREAS, the Village the Chief Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing
Inspectors and the Building Inspector are required to work 35 hours per week; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to change the employment of these inspectors from part
time to full in recognition of the number of hours per week they are working; and
WHEREAS, the Florida League of Cities, Inc. has determined that these inspectors
do not qualify as independent contractors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That the Village Manager is directed to change the employment status of the
Chief Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing Inspectors and the Building Inspector from part
time to full time.
Section 2: That the change in status is retroactive to November 17, 1998.
Section 3: This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
