ATTENDANCE: Janzi Frandin Mary Clemmer Marilyn Summers Faye Kerr -Bob Scoles Gloria Cantrell II. CALL TO ORDER: III. MINUTES: Read and approved. IV. BILLS: Approved. V. STAFF REPORT: Gloria Talked of National library Week -April 17-22. VI. OLD BUSINESS: VII. NEW BUSINESS: A. Long Range Plan was reviewed and mission statement will be revised to also include Reference and Community Center identities. B. Foundation Center. All but 4 books have arrived and patrons are already using the materials we have purchased. Our goal of May 1, to set up center is now going to be a reality. C. Ready to Read program has been turned over to Nancy Jones from Head Start.It was felt that they would have an in with prospective participants. D. Cascade and McCalls Resource Sharing program is alive and working. A. Lets Talk Book Review Program / We have applied for participation in the Spring Program with our first choice being, Idaho Tough Paradise. These programs will be held Monday nights at 6p.m. B. McPlan-The Library Staff and the Friends will have a display at the Club House on May 5, 6, 8 7 if plan is as it now stands. C. Exterior painting, repair and sandblasting needs to be done to the Library. Board wrote letter to Bill, City Manager and City Council in reference to these needs. D. Gloria shared her trip to Spring Conference April 16th. E. Gloria ask Board to take a bigger part in budgeting and told of different approaches she learned of at a budget meeting she attended in March. F. Ed Hershgold has received a grant and is involving the Library with a possibility of a possible networking system. Library Board minutes page 2. G. Read a Book Program a project with Subway has proven very successful. It encourages children to read 10 books in 10 weeks. We have 40 children registered. H. On April 29 Jim Henderson ask each Department Head to present a 15-minute overview to the City Manager Candidates. Gloria suggested a walk through with facts,figures, goals and our mission. Board was in favor of this approach. I. The Library Staff will be visiting the Elementary School during the next 4 weeks. This visit will be to invite students to ther_Summer Reading Program. J. The Friends raised $800.00+ at their April 16, yard sale. The Friends will also help with the May 14 Beautification Project. VIII. ADJOURNMENT: 11:00 A.M. Respectfully Submitted: Janzi Frandin
