HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance 22ORDINANCE No. 22. An ordinance defining the term side- walk, providing for the width thereof and regulating the planting of shade trees thereon. The Board of Trustees of the City of Beaumont do ordain as follows: SECTION 1. The term sidewalk shall include the space between the curb and the property line, whether improved or unimproved, and includ- ing the parking space. SECTION 2. That on all streets and avenues of a width not exceeding sixty-six feet within the corporate limits of the City of Beaumont, the position of the curb lines shall be and is hereby established at a distance of sixteen feet from the property lines along said streets and avenues. That on all streets and avenues of a width of eighty feet and over within said cor- porate limits the position of the curb lines shall be and is hereby established at a distance of twenty feet from the property lines along said streets and avenues. SECrIox. 3. That all cement side- walks hereafter to be constructed in the City of Beaumont on all streets and avenues other than on business blocks shall be constructed not less than five feet in width and the outer edge thereof shall be six feet from the property line along said street or avenue. SECTION 4. That on all streets and avenues in the City of Beaumont, the position of all street trees hereafter planted shall be at a distance of ten feet from the property lines en said streets and avenues. SECTION 5. Any violation of the provisions of this ordinance is hereby declared • to be a misdemeanor and shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed fifty dollars. SECTION 6. This ordinance shall be published once in the Beaumont Leader and thereafter shall take effect and be in force immediately. Introduced by R. E. Williams. Passed August 8, 1913. J. J.
