An Ordinance providing for the
method of numbering buildings on .the
streete and avenues in the City of
Beaumont.
The Board of Trustees of 'the City
of Beaumont do ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. All buildings having a
frontage on any street or avenue in
the City of Beaumont shall be number-
ed by the owner, agent or occupant
thereof as hereinafter provided, to -wit:
California Avenue shall form the base
line for numbering all east and west
streets and avenues and the southern
city limit shall be the base for all
streets running north and south. Odd
numbers shall be assigned to the south
side of the streets and west side of the
avenues, and all numbers shall
alternate in reguar numerical or-
der. In all blocks twenty five
feet shall be allowed to each number.
SECTION 2. For the purpose of num-
, bering on streets or avenues, the build-
ings shall be counted from the base
lines; thus streets running east or
west of California Avenue shall be
designated as East or West and north
and south streets and avenues shall be
numbered running north. The first
number allotted in each first block
shall be 101 and the first number in
the second block shall be 201 and the
first number in each succeeding block
shall commence with a new hundred.
The number of each building shall be
placed on or over the front door and
so placed as to be easily read.
SECTION 3. A'l buildings now erect-
ed shall be numbered in accordance
with the provisions of this ordinance
by January 1, 1914. All buildings here-
after erected shall be numbered within
30 days of the time of their comple-
tion. The owner, agent or occupant
of any such building shall ascertain
the proper number from the Superin-
tendent of Streets of said City.
SECTIox 4. Every violation of this
ordinance shall constitute a misde-
meanor and shall be punishable by a
fine not to exceed ten dollars.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be
published once in the Beaumont
Leader and shall take effect at the
time above stated.
