An ordinance relating to the protection of streets.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Beaumont do ordain as follows: -
Section 1. It shall be Unlawful for any person or persons,
water company., gas company or other corporation to do any digging, fil-
ling or make any excavation in or upon any part of any of the streets,
or alleys in the
C ryty of Beaumont withoirtopermissi.on to do so first ob-
tained from the
Beard o 4°us.te s of said City . Should any such digging
filling or excavation remain open or unsafe after dark, the persons or
corporation doing the same sham cause a lighted lantern 1,o be suspen-
ded over the same at Alm each end thereof and in the centre where the
same crosses any street or alley.
Section 2. Every water Company, gas company, corporation or
individual doing or causing to be done any work upon, in or under the
surface of any street or alley of the City oi' Beaumont, under any per-
mit therefore, whereby or by reason of which work said st:'eet or alley
shall be put in bad order or condition, SHALL itmnediatel:r put such
street or alley in as good order and condition as before ',he beginning
of said work,
Section 3.
In case of the failure on the part of any such
pHrson or c . to comply with the provisions of the foregoing
section the City Marshall shall notify such person or co:°poration to
repair such street or alley, and if the same be not repair^ed in one
week from the date of said notice the same will be repaie:cd by said city
at the expense of such corroration or individual.
Section 4. Any person or corporation violati:lg the proiri-
guilty of a misdein anor and
sions of the first section of this ordinance shall be4pun Lshed by a fine
not to exceed ten dollars.
Section 5. This ordinance shall be published )nce in the
