The Board of Trustees of the City of Beaumont do
ordain as follows:
Section 1. Any person or persons confined in the city ar
jail or lockup of the City of Beaumont under a j udg:nent of
imQri.:;onment for t.::ie violation of any ordinance oft 'said
city, may be required by an order of the Board of Trustees
of said city or the president of said Board to perform labor
on the streets or other public property or `arks within the
City of Beaumont.
section 2. Any person sentenced to imprisonment for the
violation of any ordinance of the City of Beaumont,'may be
imprisoned in the jail or lockup for said city or n the
county jail of the county of Riverside, as the Justice,
Recorder or Judge ..ay direct.
Section 3. Each and every violation of the p °visions
of any ordinance of the city of Beaumont shall be end the same
is hereby declared. to be a :misdemeanor.; and any pe son con-
victed of a misdemeanor the penalty for which is not other,.vise
prescribed, shall be ioonishable by a fine of not more than
One Hundred Dollars, or by imprisonment for not more than
fifty days or by,,.,both such fine and imprisonment.

Section l/ Whenever any person is ordered to work upon the
streets or highways of the city of Beaumont as in Sec/ .
of this ordinance provided he shall be required to work in
at the proportion of one days labor for each dollar of fine
or imprisonment imposed by the Court imposing the puni hment.
